Social Life Volunteers hosted the fifth blended mobility within IQ Mentoring project in Sivas, Turkey. The theme of the mobility was the social integration of refugees through mentoring. During those 5 days of mobility, participants shared best practices and methods of and for mentoring. Moreover, they learned about the educational system from Turkey regarding the social integration of children of refugees’. The indoor and outdoor activities carried out within the mobility strength the necessity of having community mentors in our regions especially when it comes about disadvantaged people and their integration.
Visiting the city hall and meeting the mayor of Sivas, participants learned how the local authorities are supporting the community mentoring about which they learned through IQ M project. As well, SLV showed us that mentoring can be under many ways and one of them presented was through art. The art school from Sivas through art-mentoring is helping disadvantaged adults to develop new skills through which they can get a job or they can help others from their community.
In the end all participants not only developed their knowledge about community mentoring but also they learned more about Turkish culture and social system, how it works and how Turkish communities develop during time and how they will develop in future using mentoring as a tool for the development of people.
